This policy explains what information we process when you visit Poros (porosmantar.com), use our forms or the photo identification tool, why we process it and who we share it with. Poros is a Markention company. The detailed notice under Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) is in our data protection notice, and cookies are covered in the cookie policy.

When you browse the site
- Security and infrastructure: The site is served through Cloudflare. On every request, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser details and the page you open for security and speed. Our server (Hostinger, Germany) keeps access logs with the requested address, IP address, browser details and time.
- Map: The map images (tiles) on the mushroom map load straight into your browser from OpenStreetMap’s servers. Your browser sends your IP address and the address of the page you are on to the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Observation points come from our own server.
- Location: If you tap “Use my location” on the map or “Use my location, find mushrooms” on the home page, your browser asks for permission. Your location is used only on your device to find the nearest observations and move the map there; it is never sent to our server or anywhere else, and it is not stored.
- Browser storage: Your cookie choice is kept only in your browser and is never sent to us.
For visitor analytics the site uses Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.; data may be processed outside Turkey, including the USA) only if you consent to analytics in the cookie banner; without consent the analytics script is not loaded at all. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses; we use it to see, in aggregate, which pages are read. The Google AdSense site verification script is loaded on pages; as of the date of this policy no ads are shown (see “Cookies and advertising” below).
Information you send through forms
- Waiting list (“Tell me when it’s available”): your email address, the product and size you picked, the page language and the address of the page you sent the form from. Used only to tell you once when that product goes on sale.
- Corporate gift quote: company name, contact person’s name, email, phone (optional), quantity range, size, species preference, preferred delivery date, your notes and, if you choose, your company logo. Used to prepare a quote and contact you about it. The logo is kept in a folder that cannot be reached from the internet and can only be downloaded from our admin panel.
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, so we can reply.
New quote requests and contact messages are forwarded to our team by email (Google Workspace). On the waiting list and quote forms we store an irreversible hash of your IP address rather than the address itself, the time you sent the form and the version of the consent text you agreed to, to prevent abuse. Short-term rate-limit counters delete themselves within an hour.
Photo identification
This feature is currently switched off (“coming soon”). Once it opens, it works like this:
- Up to 3 photos you choose are resized and re-saved on your phone or computer; this removes extra data embedded in the photo, such as location (EXIF).
- The photo reaches our server, is processed in memory without being written to disk, and is sent to OpenAI (USA) for identification. Our request asks OpenAI not to store the response (
store: false); OpenAI’s API data policy also applies. - We do not keep the photo. So that the same photo gets the same answer if sent again, the result is cached for 24 hours against an irreversible hash of the photo.
- For the daily usage limit, an irreversible hash of your IP address is kept for one day. The service log holds only the date, duration, model used, language, number of photos and the type of result; no photos and no IP addresses.
Please send only photos that show the mushroom; avoid images with faces, number plates or personal details. Because photos are transferred abroad (USA), once the feature opens you will be told about this transfer and asked for your consent before sending. An identification result is an estimate and never confirms that a mushroom is edible (see the terms of use).
Cookies and advertising
We use non-essential cookies only with your consent. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. The list and durations are in the cookie policy. Unless you consent, Google Consent Mode stays at “denied”.
We are preparing to show ads on this site with Google AdSense; as of the date of this policy no ads are shown. Once ads go live:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of third-party vendors’ cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- How Google uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Unless you consent, any ads shown are non-personalised.

We do not sell your information or give it to others for marketing. We share it only as far as the service requires, with these providers and with public authorities legally entitled to request it:

How long we keep it
- Waiting list: until the on-sale announcement is sent; deleted then, or whenever you ask.
- Corporate quote requests and logos: until the quote process ends; deleted then, or whenever you ask. If a request becomes an order, the retention periods required by commercial law apply.
- Contact messages: until your request has been answered and the purpose has ended; you can ask for deletion at any time.
- Photo identification: photos are never stored; the result cache lasts 24 hours and the usage counter one day.
- Cookie choice: 12 months in your browser, after which we ask again.
- Server access logs: for the hosting server’s log rotation period.
Children
The site is for a general audience. The forms and photo identification are meant for adults; we ask that people under 18 do not send forms or photos.
Your rights
Your rights under Article 11 of the KVKK (to access, correct, delete, object and more) and how to apply are set out in the data protection notice. To have a waiting list or quote record deleted, use the contact form or write to [email protected].
Changes
When we add a new tool (such as analytics, advertising, sales or payments) or change how we process information, we update this policy; the date in force is shown at the top of the page.
