About this product
Lion's mane has no cap: it's a white ball of fine hanging spines. It swells slowly out of the hole in the box and looks a little stranger and lovelier every day.
Sliced and pressed in a hot pan, it eats like crab or lobster. Best with butter, garlic and lemon.
Taste and texture: Sweetish, with a seafood-like texture; loves butter.
How does it grow?
From box to plate, day by day
- day0 Open the box Open the hole and choose a bright, humid spot.
- day1–10 Keep it humid Mist around it twice a day, not straight onto the mushroom.
- day10–14 The ball forms A white, velvety knob emerges.
- day14–21 Harvest Cut at the base before the spines lengthen and yellow.
Timings are approximate and can shift by a few days with room temperature and humidity. We will update them with our first batches.
