Terms of use

Last updated:

By using Poros (porosmantar.com) you agree to the terms below. Poros is a Markention company; the site is published by Markention Dijital Pazarlama San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti.

Never eat a mushroom you are not sure about. Wild mushrooms can be deadly. Nothing on this site, whether information, photos, map records or identification results, confirms that a mushroom is edible. If you suspect poisoning in Turkey, call 112 (emergency) or 114 (National Poison Information Centre, UZEM) straight away; elsewhere, call your local emergency number or poison centre.

What the service is

Poros brings together a mushroom species guide, a Turkey mushroom map with routes and a season calendar, recipes, photo identification and a shop. The information sections are free. On the date of these terms nothing is sold or paid for on the site; shop products are marked “coming soon” or “waiting list open”.

Foraging, poisoning and health

  • The information here is for general learning and identification practice; it does not replace an on-the-spot check by an experienced mushroom expert. Many poisonous species look very much like edible ones, and symptoms from some deadly species start only hours later.
  • Decisions about picking or eating any mushroom are yours. If in doubt, leave it out; wild mushrooms carry extra risk for pregnant people, children, older people and anyone with a health condition.
  • Mushroom tea and capsules are food supplements, not medicines; the site makes no claim that they prevent or treat any disease. Make decisions about your health with your doctor.
  • Species containing psilocybin are described only for identification and as a warning. Picking, possessing or using them may be a crime in Turkey.

Photo identification

Photo identification uses AI (OpenAI) to show likely candidate species and poisonous look-alikes based on the photos you send. The result is an estimate: it can be wrong or incomplete and never confirms that a mushroom is edible. A photo cannot show most of what identification needs, such as spore colour, smell or a cross-section. Do not eat a mushroom based on the result. There is a daily usage limit, and we may pause the service without notice. How photos are handled is explained in the privacy policy.

Map, observations and routes

  • Observations on the map come from open science records (GBIF, iNaturalist); species names and locations rely on the recorder’s or the community’s identification and may be wrong. A record at a spot does not mean you will find, or are allowed to pick, that mushroom there.
  • It is up to you to follow the rules of the area where you forage, including private land and protected areas. Look after your own safety with regard to terrain and weather.

Shop, waiting list and corporate quotes

  • The “Tell me when it’s available” form is not an order and gives no guarantee about product, price or delivery date. We email you once when the product goes on sale.
  • The corporate quote form only passes your request to us. We send you a separate written quote; no contract exists until the quote is accepted and an order is placed. You confirm you have the right to use any logo you send; it is used only for your quote and order.
  • When sales start, a distance sales contract and pre-contract information form covering payment, delivery, the right of withdrawal and returns will be published separately.

Accuracy

Content is prepared from cited sources and shown with them. If you spot a mistake, let us know through the contact form; we will check and fix it.

Using the site

You agree not to use the site for unlawful purposes, not to enter someone else’s details or misleading information in forms, not to send the identification tool photos that are not of mushrooms or that contain other people’s personal details, and not to send automated requests that disrupt the site.

Intellectual property

The Poros name and logo, and the text, design and illustrations on the site belong to Markention and may not be copied without permission. Most mushroom photos come from Wikimedia Commons under the free licences chosen by their authors; author and licence details are on the Image credits page. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Photos you send remain yours and are processed only for identification.

The site links to other sites as sources. Those sites’ owners are responsible for their content and privacy practices.

Limitation of liability

We take care to keep the site up to date, but we do not guarantee that the information is complete or current at all times. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from decisions made on the basis of information or identification results on the site.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date in force is shown at the top of the page. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
