About this product
The white button mushroom you know from the supermarket grows at home from compost under a thin layer of casing soil. It likes it cool: a pantry or an unheated room is ideal.
Freshly picked buttons taste nothing like shop-bought: firmer and more aromatic. Raw in salads, in stews, sautéed; they go everywhere.
Taste and texture: Familiar and mild; firmer and more aromatic when freshly picked.
How does it grow?
From box to plate, day by day
- day0 Open the box Keep it cool (16–20 °C) and dim; moisten the casing soil.
- day1–14 Keep it moist The surface should stay damp, never muddy.
- day14–21 Pins appear White pinheads rise through the soil.
- day21–28 Harvest Twist off before the veil under the cap breaks.
Timings are approximate and can shift by a few days with room temperature and humidity. We will update them with our first batches.
