About this product
Oyster mushrooms are the most forgiving species to grow at home. The block arrives fully colonised with mycelium; all you do is open the window in the box, keep it humid and watch the grey caps spill over the edge.
Mild, soft and meaty. Perfect fried until crisp in butter, in soups or folded into an omelette. After the harvest the block rests and often gives you a second flush.
Taste and texture: Mild and nutty; meaty and juicy once cooked.
How does it grow?
From box to plate, day by day
- day0 Open the box Cut the window and place it somewhere bright but out of direct sun.
- day1–7 Keep it humid Mist the cut surface twice a day; never let it dry out.
- day5–10 Pins appear Tiny grey knots show up and turn into a cluster within days.
- day10–14 Harvest Twist off the whole cluster before the cap edges flatten out.
- day+2 wk Second flush Let the block rest and keep misting.
Timings are approximate and can shift by a few days with room temperature and humidity. We will update them with our first batches.
