About this product
Reishi isn't a cooking mushroom: it's hard, woody and bitter. Watching it grow is the joy: first it sends up antler-like stalks, then they turn into a glossy red-brown fan.
For patient growers. Slice and dry your harvest and brew your own tea. It also looks wonderful on a desk as a living object.
Taste and texture: Not for cooking; dried and brewed as a tea, distinctly bitter.
How does it grow?
From box to plate, day by day
- day0 Open the box A warm, bright spot; keep the bag closed.
- day14–28 Antlers Yellow-red stalks with white tips reach upward.
- day28–60 The fan Give it more air and the cap opens into a fan.
- day60–90 Harvest When the white growing edge disappears, cut and dry it.
Timings are approximate and can shift by a few days with room temperature and humidity. We will update them with our first batches.
